.::Age is just a number, right??::.

Do you think I like pink???

Classic Shot!

The house all decorated...

The cute cake! What a sweet hubby I have! He made it all by himself!! :)

I am sitting in my kitchen at my "real" house in SOuth Jordan. (Rexburg is the "fake" house..haha) but it feels SO good to be home. We come home quite a bit, but I just can't get enough of it. I miss home like crazy. We are having fun in Rexburg for the time being, but coming home to South Jordan (eventually and hopefully someday...) will be nice. Matt and my Dad are watching I Am Legend, and I'd rather be blogging, so here I am.

My birthday was yesterday, and it didn't seem like my birthday because it was just another day at school teaching. This is the first year I can say that I wasn't excited to get older. 23?!?!?! I'm practically DEAD! But age is just a number, right??!!?! RIGHT.
anyway....
When I got home from work Matt had decorated the house all cute. He made a cake and decorated it (his first cake...ever!!) and had wrapped my presents then had them sitting out on the table waiting for me when I got home (what a studmuffin!!!). THEN it felt like my birthday. We went out to dinner at Craigo's (yummy pizza place) and came home and opened presents and had cake.

I got a new hot pink iPod (I washed my cute purple one a couple weeks ago. I went running and had it in the pocket of my running pants and forgot it was there. I got home and did laundry and threw them in totally forgetting about the iPod. BTW that is the 3rd time I have killed an iPod due to water. The first time I was running in South Jordan and got caught in a rain storm. Not just a typical storm, I mean like somebody had turned on the shower faucet and I was caught 4 miles away from home in it. Not good. The second time I was running in Rexburg and the same thing happened. Out of nowhere it started raining cats and dogs. I tried to save my iPod by holding it underneath my shirt, but before I knew it, my shirt was dripping wet and just causing it more damage... Not so lucky with iPods as you can see.) He also got me the book Breaking Dawn (I know I'm super lame and haven't finished the Twilight Saga yet, but that will change soon). He says that one more gift is on it's way in the mail, and I can't wait to see what it is!

I just love Matt so much. He is the most kind, thoughtful, and unselfish person I have ever met. I am so lucky to have married such an amazing person. I really don't know how I got so lucky. I love him and am thankful for him everyday.

Here are some pics from the birthday celebrations so far. We are celebrating with the fam this weekend so more pics to come. :)

Goodbyes

I hate goodbyes. Never in my life has this been an easy thing for me to deal with. Matthew is going into the MTC tomorrow. He was just set apart about an hour ago, and is an official missionary now! I just said my goodbyes to him over the phone. Not an easy thing to do. I got to say goodbye in person on Sunday night before we drove back from his farewell. THAT was horrible. I was really sad that I couldn't be there tonight when he got set apart. I talked to him after and he seemed really calm and excited for tomorrow's new adventures. I know he's going to make a great missionary, and I know that this is the best thing he could be doing right now in his life.
I will miss you Elder Hansen!! :)

ahh the joys of teaching 4th grade...

Today and yesterday were parent teacher conferences...SO tiring! It was good though to sit down and talk with all the parents. I am loving my job. It's refreshing (and exhausting) to work with kids everyday. It puts in to perspective what really matters and how the most simple things in life are the most important.

When I was student teaching in kindergarten, I told myself that I was going to write down the little funny comments the kids say throughout the day. I swear I could write a very entertaining book. I never got around to doing it, but I really need to start. They say the funniest things. I miss kindergarten for that reason. In fourth grade, they still say funny things from time to time, but nothing like 5 year olds. Although I miss the little ones, I'm loving 4th grade. It is SO much easier in so many ways. (No wiping noses, tying shoes, zipping up coats, dealing with "accidents" and so on.) The kids are A LOT more independent, which makes a huge difference.

I thought I'd share some funny quotes/stories of my 4th grade adventure so far...

"teacher?? can i call you mustard?"
"mustard???...why???"
"because your hair looks like mustard!"

"see mom, i told you my teacher was a teenager!!"

"is Santa real??"
"yes I have seen proof when I was little one Christmas morning"
"really??"
then I told them a story...after i was done a little boy says as serious as can be...
"Welp...that's it! That proves it, he's real!"

"teacher... I've got a girlfriend. She's in 3rd grade and she's HOT!"

While teaching health (always an adventure with 4th graders) we were learning about the digestive system (so much fun, ahahaha). I was trying to be "politically correct" and use correct terms so when i said "bowel movement" a few kids knew what that meant and started to giggle. I tried to ignore it and move on but no, they wouldn't have it. One little girl asks "what's a bowel movement?" and that's when I lost them. A little boy decided he'd answer for her and says, "It's when you poop!" then he does the funniest laugh I have ever heard "huah... huah... huah..." it was this low slow motion old man chuckle, and I couldn't help it and busted out laughing. Really this isn't funny, bowel movements and all, but the way he answered and then chuckled after just set me off. Then the whole class started laughing and I lost all control.

Those are just some that have happened lately. I am going to try to be better about writing things down, because that's half the fun of teaching kids.

We are coming to Utah in the morning, YAY!! I'm so excited. My brother, Matthew is leaving on his mission next Wednesday, and his farewell is on Sunday. I'm so excited for him! It's really weird that I won't see him for two years. I'm going to miss him!!

Well I'm off to bed. I'm soooooo tired. Long day. Hard workout after work, then cleaned the house and did laundry all night...EXHAUSTING!!!!
